Notre Dame University-Louaize North Lebanon Campus (NDU-NLC) Faculty of Architecture, Art and Design (FAAD) students enrolled in the IDP 326 Concept of Historic Preservation Course were assigned by Ms. Joyce Zakharia, Graphic Design instructor ,the task of renovating by Christmas 2016 a home in Zgharta belonging to an underprivileged family comprised of eight children and their parents.
Zakharia also engaged eager and willing students enrolled in the IDP311 to join in this humanitarian effort. As a result, and with the assistance with Dr. Joseph Chartouni, a fundraising event was held on Monday and Tuesday, November 28 and 29, 2016.
Pancakes, waffles, cake, brownies, and other sweets were made available for sale to raise the need funds; some of the foodstuff was prepared by students while Musca d'Or, Chez d'oeuvre, and Patisserie Hanna donated others.
